Time to decimal calculator

Payroll often wants hours as a decimal. Convert either way.

Decimal hours divide an hour into hundredths. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours, because 45 minutes is three quarters of an hour.

The formula

Decimal hours = hours + minutes / 60 (+ seconds / 3,600). Going back: the whole number is the hours, and the decimal part times 60 is the minutes.
